Professional info
As an Animal Behavior and Training Professional, I focus on skills that allow me to teach two species (or more) at one time. I regularly use my instruction skills to coach humans to understand their non-human companions, including how to communicate with them in a clear, concise way. Learning theory is a staple in my toolbox wherein I primarily use positive reinforcement based training to teach skills to non-human animals. Behavior evaluations employ problem solving skills with particular emphasis on behavior analysis. Public speaking is a strength that is demonstrated by the various venues and topics on which I have presented for small community groups to national audiences, including my TedXBuffalo Talk. As an Anthrozoologist, I analyze relationships between the human and non-human animals of the world. This includes designing and completing anthrozoological research. As an Educator, I seek to provide my students with important skills in ethology, critical thinking and problem solving.
